Selling my life!
This weekend Flo and I went to the flea market to sell some of our stuff. It was only an attempt to get rid of a small amount of all the things we have in our flat and can’t take to the US, but it was a beginning. Nearly every evening of the last week we sat on the floor in between thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, old shoes, clothes and much more stuff that we both can’t use and don’t need anymore. Flo is very difficult with giving and throwing away stuff, so I tried to sort out as many things as possible. In the end we got together a car full of things and drove to the flea market with the stuff on Sunday.
I actually didn’t feel bad while selling stuff, that accomponied me for a few years and that used to be very important to me once. But actually this day lifted a bit of weight off my heart. It feels good to get rid of the old stuff. Mostly like losing some weight, that pushed you back with planning. I always worry what we will do with our stuff, what we will be allowed to bring abroad, after how many years we should ship our stuff over to the US and so on.
If I sum it up, I do not have that much things that I couldn’t live without. Most of our „good“ and unique furniture belongs to Flo, so it wouldn’t break my heart to give it up. Right now I actually am so excited to get a new flat, get new furniture and begin everything new, that I would love to just pack a suitcase with the most important stuff and go! Perhaps this is just excitement, but perhaps it is because I don’t feel like I already found my real home, yet! Right now Cologne to me isn’t the place where I want to spend my life at. Maybe California won’t be that place either! But right now the thought that it maybe will, is really important to me!
