Christmas Parade

Christmas ParadeFlo and my day totally did not start Christmas related at all. We got up early to go to Huntington Beach and meet up for a bike ride with one of our friends. The weather today was amazing, it was hot but a little windy and we rode our bikes all the way down to Newport Beach. After a little stroll around the Newport Beach Pier area we went back to Huntington to have Sushi.

Flo and I headed back to Los Angeles around 5 pm and didn’t really plan to do anything but relax on the sofa. But when we left the Highway in West Hollywood we noticed that something huge must be going on. After driving along as ton of closed streets we googled if there was an event on the Hollywood Boulevard and found out that they were having the 80th annual Christmas Parade. We parked our car, got Flo’s camera and walked to the Walk of Fame. We came just in time for the parade and hung out there for about 3 hours. The parade is pretty big and they featured everything from Highschool Marching Bands to huge blown-up figurines. We also had a good view on some celebrities like Sean Kingston or the Beethoven movie dog.

Flo took a ton of pictures, so I will stop talking/writing now to let you enjoy the Holiday spirit he caught on camera!

Thankstaking

Hey all, I hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving and are still enjoying your Thanksgiving weekend. Because it was Flo and my’s first Thanksgiving as US “residents” you might think we did something super traditional. But no, that was not the case. Thanksgiving spontaneously turned into a Thankstaking day for us. Meaning taking advantage of everyone celebrating Thanksgiving. I lost you? Alright, I’ll make it short: Flo and I went to the Universal Studios! We wanted to go there for a few months now, but never found the right day! The wait turned out to be totally worth it, because the park was super empty on Thanksgiving. We didn’t have to wait more than 10 minutes for any of the attractions and were able to see and do everything (we wanted) in 4 hours. And the best thing: We got an annual pass for 2012 for free! Below are some pictures, maybe you can spot some familiar looking movie sets!

In the evening Flo and I went to my colleagues and now also friends house and had a little after party with some lovely people! On Friday I sadly had to work, but Flo relaxed on the couch all day long! And today (Saturday) we went to the Citadel Outlet mall and made some really good deals on clothing, shoes and some Christmas presents!

Even if our first Thanksgiving over here was not traditional at all, it was a lot of fun! We are sure that we’ll stay in the US for a longer time, so the traditional Thanksgiving are most likely to come!

Getting in the christmas mood…

As you may already know, Flo and I are gonna leave for a little Germany vacation in 3 weeks. This means we are not gonna be here for Christmas. So I decided to do a lot of Christmas related stuff over here before we leave. The first thing on my list was to send a little pre-christmas package to my little niece and my brother’s family in Germany. I have already collected a few little gifts in the last weeks. We went to Target to get some Christmas chocolate for my brother and his wife yesterday and when we got to the post office, I found a super cute Disney-themed Christmas enevelope to put all the goodies in.

After that we went to Home Depot to get a few stuff for our balcony and I couldn’t pass the flower that we in Germany call the Christmas star! Yesterday evening we went to the Grove to get dinner at an italian restaurant and I was super suprised by the awesome Christmas decorations they have over there. They even have “fake snow”, which over here seems to be soap bubbles. But still, it was cute, dinner was great and we had a wonderful date night!

Today Flo and I had a really low-key day – mostly due to the heavy rain we had here in LA. But to still add a little Christmas flavor we baked delicious Cinnamon Pastry Swirls!

Have a great pre-christmas time everyone!

PS: Even my nails got the pre-Christmas treatment today.
