All moved in!
Yesterday was our big moving day. We finally packed all of our belongings (or at least the majority of them), and moved into our new apartment in Huntington Harbour. The day started pretty early for us. At around 6.30am Flo drove me and the cat down here. I had to be at the new place from 8am on, because we got or new fridge delivered. Flo then drove back to Hollywood to meet the movers at our old apartment at 10am. Little advertising at this point: We went with a company called the Rock’n'Roll movers and can’t be any happier about our decision. The movers were super nice, our age and “style” and Flo had lots to talk about with the guys.
Since I had a little time on my hands, I started setting up the kitchen, closets and the bathroom. We had moved stuff over here all week long, so the majority of our stuff (basically everything but the furniture) was with me already. Besides greeting the Fridge delivery guys, I also had to be here for the Verizon guy, who came to set up our new Internet, TV and Phone connection. As you see, we planned this all to go down in one day. Flo and the movers arrived here at around 2pm and were finished about 2 hours later. And here comes the unbelievable part: At 6.30pm we were all finished up, even already had our pictures on the wall and were ready for our first friends to come over.
Thanks to the moving company and having both apartments at the same time for about one week, this move was super easy and convenient. And best of all: We are in love with our new apartment. It’s very spacious, very light and living in the area we wanted to move to for nearly 4 years now, feels absolutely amazing! I will tell you more about the new place, the move and our new hometown soon, so stay tuned!
Happy Easter from Huntington Beach!
This weekend was our last before the whole moving stress will begin. So we decided to take it slow (relatively) and do some relaxing things including a trip to Magic Mountain. Not everyone might consider our Saturday activity relaxing, but it was our way of not spending one thought on a stressful move. On Saturday morning our friends picked us up and we headed north to the Six Flags Rollercoaster Park Magic Mountain. In Germany me and my brother had always dreamed about visiting this park. We always loved rollercoasters and compared to the European ones, this park is insane. The price is actually pretty okay- we only paid 40 dollars per ticket, because we bought them early. What was not so nice though was that the park was extremely packed. In the eight hours we spent there we only went on four rides. The rest of the time we spent standing in line or walking around. But still, it was worth the trip and a nice way to escape our everyday life in Los Angeles for a little bit.
On Monday Flo started his new job. It has only been a week, but I think he already feels very comfortable and good at the new workplace and is very happy about how this all worked out. There is one little downside (at least for now) though: A 50 mile commute. Flo’s new job kinda changed our whole morning routine, because now he has to leave at 8 instead of 10. But so far it is all working out good and I have to admit that I enjoy my free time in the morning a little bit.
