Ten things I wanna do when I live in the US Pt. 2

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

DSC_0510This is part two of my wish list for things I wanna get done when I live in the US. You can catch up with part one in the previous entry below or continue right here. I also wanna say thanks to everyone who posted their suggestions for things I should do when I live in the US! The one I liked most naturally was the cake shop Tanja suggested. Those cakes look delicious! But for now I have to keep my figure to fit my wedding dress in a few weeks, so let’s continue with the list…

6. I wanna go to a mani-pedi
Yes, for sure we do have cosmetics shops in Germany, where you can get manicures and pedicures. But I love the shops I always see in the gossip mags I read. I so wanna sit in a comfy chair, treat my feet to a bath and get some super glossy red nails. And do not pay a fortune for it!

7. I wanna drink as much Arizona Ice Tea as I like
Do you know the drink Arizona Ice Tea? I do not only adore the cute bottles, but love the taste! In Germany you have to pay over three Euros for a small bottle of it. On our first day in San Francisco in May I nearly were in shock, when I saw that they sell that stuff for a dollar in the US! So, on my first day with my own fridge I will buy a gallon of Arizona Ice Tea!

8. I wanna drive a Chevrolet Silverado
I love big cars! My biggest problem over here is that I can’t park a car into regular parking spots! And: You can’t easily buy cars like the Chevy Silverado here – neither can you afford the gas. Our friend Scott has a Chevy Silverado. Last time we met him, he offered me to drive his car, but I was too scared. Next time I will do it!

9. I wanna sit on the Friends couch
Last time we were in Los Angeles, Flo and me thought about doing a VIP tour at the Warner Brothers Studios. I especially wanted to do this tour, because I am a huge Friends fan and always wanted to sit on the Friends couch to have a picture of myself sitting on it. Last time we didn’t have had time for the tour, I am not sure if we’ll have time in October, but I will show you that picture eventually!

10. I wanna marry in Vegas
When I first met Flo he told me that he’ll never marry a girl. And if he would out of any reason it would be in Vegas. Flo is going to marry me for the second time in August – the first one was a civil ceremony, this year’s one will be a more private one. So even if it took him three yes do fullfill his dream, our next wedding will be in Vegas!

10 things about you, America! Pt. 1: Love!

iStock_000009611791XSmallDear America,

there are some things I always wanted to tell you! To tighten our relationship in the first place I will tell you what I like about you:

1. I love how your people make me smile with their politeness every day. They ask me how I am and even if my answer is a lie, it makes me smile. And sometimes even makes my day!

2. Your landscapes amaze me every single day. You have beaches, you have snow. You have the hottest summers and also the coldest winters. You have all I want and everything I will never miss!

3. You bring so much joy to my life. Your people speak the language that I chose as my favourite, your people write the music that amazes me, produce the movies and series that make me laugh and cry, you provide the nicest gossip and entertain me like noone else can.

4. You let me be who I am! You don’t make me hide my sweatpants in my bedroom, hide my tattoos under long sleeves or make politeness feel like an illness.

5. Your food gives me comfort whenever I need it! Oreos, frozen yogurt, Burgers, Latte with Vanilla soy milk – who would want to let go of this forever?

6. Thinking about you and our future life together makes my heart bounce!

7. You brought me and my husband closer than we already were, because you are our dream, our challenge, our future!

8. Through giving my husband a greencard you made my oldest and biggest dream come true!

9. You are my biggest challenge in life so far and maybe will be the challenge of my lifetime!

10. You will be my home very soon!

Tomorrow I will tell you why you still make me struggle to accept my own decision to live with you…

XOXO, Janina

PS: Dear reader, why don’t you write that list for yourself?

And the Oscar goes to…

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Bildschirmfoto 2010-03-07 um 21.09.47The award season overexcites my nerves year after year! For I am a gossip blogger, I always want to know who wins, who wears the nicest dress and who pulls off the biggest scandal the best even before it happens. It would be okay with me knowing it right when it happens. But I am German and so I have to wait for everything till the morning after the actual ceremony!

Yes, german TV stations already made it to air the Oscar’s live, but live for me means in the middle of the night and that is a huge problem considered that I have to get up at six in the morning to get ready for work. I actually never made it to stay awake till the very beginning of the Oscars! I always had to get up for school, university or work in the next morning – and that really pisses me off!

But tonight I am very laid back, because this is the last year I will be missing the live airing of the Acadamy Awards! For me being a girl who has never ever seen the Oscar Awards live is a really big deal and a thing I am already very excited about. Next year at this time I will dress up, do my hair in a neat way, put on some Make-Up, make myself a huge bowl of microwave popcorn, put a six-pack of Coke-cans in the fridge and will very likely bore myself to death! I am aware that a five-hour-award-session is not as fun as it looks like in the 5-minute TV-capture they air the morning after, but I have to do this. I have to see the Oscar-awards live in full length at least for one time in my life! And than write a blog entry for all of my friends and readers at home telling them who won, who lost, who looked the most beautiful and who looked the most scandalous in-time and live from Los Angeles! I owe this to my job. And my Greencard!
