oops keyI was so really sorry to read that there has been a problem with this year’s Greencard Lottery. I know that it won’t help anyone who got selected in the what now seems to be a wrong process. It’s not any help to think about this as fate’s decision, I know. But please keep your heads up high and try to still follow your dreams!

Even if we didn’t think about the whole Greencard thing when we got selected, I wouldn’t have given that opportunity away by any chance. Even if this wasn’t on our agenda at all, we adapted the idea of moving to the US so fast that we made the decision to move within a week. And now two years later, we actually live in the US, love it and don’t want to leave anytime in the near future.

I really know that most of you out there are stoked about this second opportunity to get selected for the Greencard this year. But please have those in mind who thought they were lucky and now must be deeply disappointed. I really feel with you!

Ask me your questions!

questionMany of you should know by now if they are under the lucky few to receive a Greencard this year. If you are a winner, you should be full of questions you want to ask someone. When we won the Greencard, not only did we have thousands of questions, our family and friends did, too. When do we have to actually move to the US? When and how will we get the Greencard? Do I as Flo’s girlfriend (we weren’t married back then) have a chance to get the Greencard? Where do we wanna live in the US? Do we really wanna go through with this? When will be a good time to move? What are we gonna do abroad? These were some of the questions we had.

What helped us out a lot was the American Dream winner forum (which you can join as a winner) and Greencard winners that had already gone through every step of the process. I would like to kind of give that favor back now that we live in the US, too, and therefor want to tell every single one of you: If you have a question I might help you with or if you just have a certain topic you would like me to write about in the next weeks, please feel free to shoot me your question via the comment section of this blog! I promise, I will make sure to try to answer every question as soon as possible!

For now to every one of this year’s winners I would like to say: Enjoy this exciting and challenging time of your life and don’t let yourself or your dream get done by other people. To everyone who got left out by the lottery this year: Keep your head up high. I believe that fate will give you this chance, whenever it feels you are ready!

PS: Thank you Tanja for helping us so much in the past and thanks for being a great friend now!

Good luck everyone!!!

Screen shot 2011-04-27 at 11.29.56 AMEven if we already have the Greencard and live our dream, I am really excited for everyone who waits for the new Greencard winners to be announced. For us this dream came as a surprise. By the time Flo received the winner notification he had already forgotten that he took part in the lottery. But I still think I know how everyone of you guys must feel right now! Since the moment we actually won the Greencard, I couldn’t wait to make this dream come true and actually move out here!

With this post I want to give a short good luck shout out to everyone out there waiting! And it comes with a little advice: If you win, don’t rush things! This is a huge step in life and it should be well planned. Don’t expect everything to be better out here or all your problems or worries to just vanish! Life in the US is pretty, but it can also be pretty tough sometimes! So, use that chance with open eyes and an open mind and fight for your dreams! Winning the Greencard is the beginning of something big, but it’s not the end of fighting for your dream to come true!

Good luck everyone! I keep my fingers crossed for you!
