Christmas is coming closer…

Monday, December 5th, 2011

xmasThis weekend was Flo and my’s last weekend before we are going to leave for our german vacation. We wanted to make the best out of it, relax a little and for sure get a little more into the christmas spirit. And I’m glad to say, we accomplished all of that. We started our weekend on Friday Night with a date night at Cafe Med in Hollywood.

On Saturday we slept in, walked to the Hollywood Blvd to do some shopping and have a coffee and relaxed a little. At 6 we met some friends to see the Muppet movie at the El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. If you happen to be a Muppet fan and in LA right now, you should definitely take the chance to see the movie there. Before the movie Kermit and Miss Piggy take the stage and sing Christmas songs with the audience! Even if I kind of forgot about the Muppets, I enjoyed that night a lot!

Today we met our german friends from Irvine. After driving around Newport Beach for a little they took us to Balboa Island to check out the Christmas decorations down there. Some house owners went totally overboard, but it was still amazing to just stroll down the streets and look at the houses! If you live here, drive down there and try to spot the Teddy Bear house. I bet, you will not miss that one!

For everyone who is too far away to visit Balboa or the Muppets: Enjoy the pics and have yourself a very merry pre-christmas time!

Christmas Parade

Monday, November 28th, 2011

Christmas ParadeFlo and my day totally did not start Christmas related at all. We got up early to go to Huntington Beach and meet up for a bike ride with one of our friends. The weather today was amazing, it was hot but a little windy and we rode our bikes all the way down to Newport Beach. After a little stroll around the Newport Beach Pier area we went back to Huntington to have Sushi.

Flo and I headed back to Los Angeles around 5 pm and didn’t really plan to do anything but relax on the sofa. But when we left the Highway in West Hollywood we noticed that something huge must be going on. After driving along as ton of closed streets we googled if there was an event on the Hollywood Boulevard and found out that they were having the 80th annual Christmas Parade. We parked our car, got Flo’s camera and walked to the Walk of Fame. We came just in time for the parade and hung out there for about 3 hours. The parade is pretty big and they featured everything from Highschool Marching Bands to huge blown-up figurines. We also had a good view on some celebrities like Sean Kingston or the Beethoven movie dog.

Flo took a ton of pictures, so I will stop talking/writing now to let you enjoy the Holiday spirit he caught on camera!

To move or not to move

Sunday, September 11th, 2011

CourtyardSo after 7 months in LA real life has finally kicked in. By now we know that we won’t be living soon and with that decision other decisions have to be made. When we moved in to our apartment back in March we signed a lease for 7 months. Back than especially I was scared of everything not going as well as it did, so I didn’t want to sign a lease for a year.

A few weeks ago we found a letter at our door, asking us to renew our lease. We both were very hesistant at first. We talked about getting a bigger place a lot in the last months. A place with two bedrooms. One for us and one for guests and/or an office. A two bedroom – that should be easy to find in LA you might say. But we had one important catch: We didnt want to move out of West Hollywood, because Flo can ride his bike to work and we don’t want to buy a second car. A funny coincidence was that there was a two-bedroom available at our house, so we thought this might be our new place. We looked at it, but couldnt keep our eyes of a few little negative points.

And so we finally decided two stay in our cozy one-bedroom for another 7 months (counted from November 1st). At first we weren’t a hundred percent sure about our decision, but we really feel at home here and we have a lovely apartment. And changing that for only the few months a year we have visitors in might not make sense. At least not right now.

So, we will stay in West Hollywood until May 2012 at least. And because we love it so much over here, we might stay a lot longer!
