Getting used to the good things way too fast!

Everyone who has the dream of living in the US, beware: This country is not perfect! It actually is far from perfect (like Germany is far from perfect, too). But one of the worst things over here is that you get used to the good things way too fast. And that often let’s you forget about everything else! This is kind of good, when like us you have just moved here and try to adapt to the life here. But on the other hand it is bad, because I already am afraid that I will never let go of this again!
The first thing I already love is for sure the weather. It hasn’t been at it’s best behaviour since we arrived. We had hail, we had rain, we had wind – we had everything else then the weather California is famous for. But still: Being able to only wear something short sleeved or with short legs every second day is amazing!
The next thing I don’t wanna live without ever again is the furniture you can buy over here. Flo and I love retro furniture from the 50s, 60s and some shabby stuff. Over here it is a paradise, if you are a mid century furniture lover like us. Not only, because you’ll find tons of that stuff over here, but also because it is cheap!
There are a few other things I absolutely love about living here, but the thing I enjoy most right now is living in a community like ours. Not only do we live in a fantastic neighbourhood with the gorgeous Runyon Canyon just a few steps away. We also have the joy of having a pool and a spa (that’s what a whirlpool is called over here) in the building. It is one of the best things to just be able to jump in the pool or relax in the spa whenever you want!
So, don’t expect your life over here to be perfect, but (judged by my experience so far) expect it to be nice!
As you may know by now Flo and I will marry (in a big ceremony) next Saturday. Right now I am kind of anxious and angry, because it looks a lot like we will have rain on that day. This would be really, really sad, because we planned an outdoor wedding and are not half as well prepared for an indoor ceremony as we are for an outdoor one. For a bride this is a nightmare coming true.
